13th Street Old Vines Riesling 2010, Niagara

In sticking true to our Spring White’s wine theme, I hosted a tasting with a few friends, just after a working session.  The wine of feature was 13th Street’s Old Vines Riesling, 2010.  I have always been a fan of 13th Street Winery and their boutique style philosophy, with short runs of fabulous wines and this Riesling did not disappoint.  Your first sip will bring an instant bevy and party of tastes and flavours to the forefront, to the point where you’ll want to try interesting pairings, to see what else you can get out of it.   I served mine with various dark chocolate blends and produced a sort of chocolate covered berry sensation for my guests.  What makes this Riesling insurmountably interesting is that it is truly complex.  Your second and third sips bring to light senses and flavours you missed with the first.

Although, this may not be my number one choice of white, it definately would be on my dinner party list.  The experience is one that I would love to share with my wine drinking friends, at a dinner party.

This wine retails at the LCBO for $23.95
