Château Des Charmes, 2009 Cabernet Franc, VQA, Niagara
Keeping up with my ‘too cold for white’ philosophy, which I only sometimes abide by, I had the pleasure of indulging in another Château Des Charmes wine as an accompaniment to the recent rigid fall weather we’ve been having; Château Des Charmes, 2009 Cabernet Franc, VQA.
On colour, this Cabernet Franc gives you all you would expect from this varietal, a bright and solid ruby colour. On the nose, you pick up hints of peppers and cassis. On the palate, you get a sense of smokiness, some strawberry and well refined tannins that keep surprising you as the wine breaths. I paired this wine with a top sirloin and a few friends, of course.
This wine retails at the LCBO for $13.95
