We’ve finally come to the end of October, and that, sadly, also means the end of our Celebrity Vintners theme, which we’re going to end with a Cabernet Sauvignon, from South African golf master, Ernie Els.
About Ernie Els
Ernie Els is a celebrated golf player, having won 69 tournaments, including two US Opens, since the beginning of his career. His stellar achievements in the world of golf, also led to his 2011 induction, into the World Golf Hall of Fame. To add more colour to this individual, Els is also widely known for his Els for Autism foundation, born out of being a parent of an autistic son. The Els for Autism foundation, founded in 2009, is now actively fundraising to fuel the Centre of Excellence facility, which was designed to research and build digital educational tools for kids with autism.
Ernie Els, Cabernet Sauvignon is a deep garnet red colour that foretells of brilliant fullness. On the nose, you’re greeted to a floral bouquet that resides on the forefront, enriched by scents of lavender, spice and tobacco. On the palate, berries, blended with bountifully smooth tannins and light mineral notes, leave you with a long lasting finish.
It’s superior palatable makeup, classes it as one of the better Cabernet Sauvignon’s coming out of this region, and made readily available to us, here. Nonetheless, buying Ernie’s wine will not only leave your palate fulfilled, but your heart a little warm too, as part of the money’s made from the sale of this wine, goes to the Els for Autism foundation.
