Though my preferred Kim Crawford white wine is their Unoaked Chardonnay, today we decided to take a walk on the wild side and avert from our norm, and try the New Zealand wineries Sauvignon Blanc, from their regional reserves line.
The name, Kim Crawford, is widely known primarily because of its unbeatable award winning wine collection as the brand has been winning awards, continuously, since 1996 with no signs of letting up. The winery classes their wines under two designations, their Regional Reserves, which consist of grape varieties sourced from multiple vineyards, throughout the Marlborough region, and their Small Parcels line, which consists of hand picked small batches of grapes from only one or two vineyards in the region. The Small Parcels line is classed as the premium selection of Kim Crawford wines.
On colour, this Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc holds a crisp golden hue. On the nose, definite citrus and gooseberry are recognized, while on the palate, tastes of honeydew, lemon, some minerality and well tempered acidity makes this a crisply refreshing drink.
This wine retails at the LCBO for $18.95.
We gave this wine a score of 3.25 out of 5.
