Though we, surprisingly, haven’t done much by way of South African wines, it certainly doesn’t mean we don’t love them, and such is the case with this Hartenberg Shiraz 2007 we served up on the weekend, with friends.
On colour, this Shiraz holds a ruby red hue that almost borders on an eggplant shade. On the nose, you pick up mild scents of peppers, plum and some cucumber. On the palate, you’ll note a spicy, anise, caramel blend that climaxes with a lingering creamy finish on the mouth.
A truly fantastic wine that we chose to pair with grilled lamb chops in a mango sauce. A definite must try if you haven’t already!
