Selecting this wine came purely out of a ‘no idea what to drink for dinner’ quest, but knew that the Villa Symposia L’Equilibre 2008; a blend of Syrah, Carignan, and Grenache, had all the makings to work well with our planned steak based dinner.
On colour, Villa Symposia L’Equilibre 2008 holds a garnet red hue. On the nose, hints of oak, minerality and dark fruits are present, and I’ll admit there was something about the scent that made me think of smoking a cigar, in a good way. On the palate, refined tannins, plum, spice, oak and more dark berries are present. This wine performs well especially after 30 minutes of breathing time. After it’s had the chance to breathe, you’ll note that the tannins sashay even more on your tongue.
This wine retails at the LCBO for $20.95
