Hard day of planning in the office so what do you turn to for your wine reprieve at the end of it all? For me, a smooth everyday drinking wine is best, and for some reason, though not planned, it usually ends up being a Carmenere, Tempranillo or a Malbec, and such was the case when I chose Conquista Malbec 2011, out of Argentina. Knowing that the grapes for this wine come from extremely hot temperatures, cooled by the streams bellowed from the snow capped Andes Mountains, yet survive in quake touched soil, sets the stage for hints of complexity.
On colour, the Conquista Malbec 2011 holds a robust eggplant like hue. On the nose, scents of plum, raspberry and spice are present. On the palate, generous fruit tastes with some herbaceousness is noted. You’ll find a medium length finish from this dry, yet acutely smooth wine.
This wine retails at the LCBO for $12.15
