We’ve done many pieces on celebrities turned vintner and given the recent trend, I don’t see the red carpet A-listers lessening their thirst to feature their wine skills any time soon. Today, we’ere covering another celebrity vintner, Mike Weir.
It must be said that pro golfer Mike Weir is not new to the world of wine making. He has been at it since 2005 and claims his Niagara, Ontario roots were what fueled his passion in wine, that coupled with seeing the benefit of a winery in raising funds for his Mike Weir Foundation. The profits from the sale of each of Weir’s wines, go directly to his Foundation and they pride themselves in supporting various charitable organizations that support children in aid. Moreover, we’re proud to cover Mike’s 2008 Cabernet Merlot today; a fantastic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
On colour, the Mike Weir 2008 Cabernet Merlot holds a ruby red hue. On the nose, you’ll grasp scents of spice, plum and light minerality, while on the palate, you’ll grasp green pepper, red berries and currant, all amongst well structured tannins.
The Mike Weir 2008 Cabernet Merlot gave a fantastic showing as we paired it with grilled steak and seasonal vegetables. This is a must try and a great way for you give a little to charity at the same time.
