Looking for a high representation, at a reasonable price, of Napa Valley Zinfandel? If so, we strongly urge you to consider Villa Mt Eden Zinfandel 2008, Antique Vines.
The grapes harvested for this Zinfandel come from Amador County, which is nestled in Nappa Valley, and the area boasts of being one of the oldest sites of Zinfandel planting.
On colour, the Villa Mt Eden Zinfandel 2008 holds a garnet red hue that borders on eggplant. On the nose, scents of cherry, blueberry, slight spice, mixed in plum aromas are present. On the palate, tastes of oak, plum, peppercorn, a buttered touch with rounded cherry and blueberry all work to produce a medium length finish.
This was a fantastic showing of a Napa Zinfandel that we so daringly paired with a coconut, curry tofu dish. The blend highlighted the wines peppered and spiced notes, but its creamy elegance balanced all flavours admirably.
