Oh… Central Otago, New Zealand… I just cannot say enough about this regions ability to wow me with their Pinot Noir, and this Elephant Hill Pinot Noir 2011 is no different. In fact, to make this particular Pinot Noir, Elephant Hill sourced grapes from two different vineyards, further representing Central Otago Pinot Noir complexity, all throughout the region.
On colour, the Elephant Hill Pinot Noir 2011 holds a ruby red hue. On the nose, scents of plum, some herbaceousness, strawberry and cherry are noted. On the palate, you’ll pick up strawberry, slight blueberry and spice, coupled with a long and robust finish. Note that this wine performs best after breathing for 30 minutes; this is just enough time to allow both the herbs and fruit taste of this wine to shine and the floral notes on the nose to dance.
This wine retails at the LCBO for $29.95
