Well, it had begun like any other day; gym in the morning, then the office, then home to continue my work day. But this day, at 4pm I hit a point where the day’s activity warranted a glass of wine. My desire was to have something white, but dry and yet not overbearing with acidity. This desire then led me to my local wine depot to forage for the right wine. It was there I stumbled upon Eradus’ Sauvignon Blanc. From the description and the area (Marlborough, New Zealand) I deduced this would be the wine for me (for the night) and boy was I right.
On colour, the Eradus Sauvignon Blanc 2013 held a fantastic golden hue. On the nose, I was greeted by a blast of citrus, filled with oranges, lime and grapefruit, but tempered with a light melon hint. On the palate, the citrus blast continued, but it came with a creamy green apple and melon combination at the back of the mouth, which rounded off the experience nicely.
All said and done; this was a fantastic wine experience. The complexity of the Eradus Sauvignon Blanc 2013, with its fantasticly tempered acidity, makes this an annual wine, perfect for pairing with something as simple as a conversation and white fish dishes and soft cheeses. This is very much so worth the purchase.
