There is more to US wines than California, and I enjoy investigating what other AVAs (American Viticultural Area) have to offer.  So, today we’re indulging in Washington States Half Shell White 2012.

Half Shell Wine has carved their niche as the perfect wine to pair with seafood, and their white blend is a good example of this, with its crisp acidity and fruitful mouth feel.   It’s grapes are grown in the Wahluke Slope in Washington State and with experienced wine maker Richard Mansfield on their side, Half Shell Wine has produced a pleasant white blend consisting of Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Riesling.

On colour, the Half Shell White 2012 holds a pale wheat-like hue.  On the nose, subtle scents of pear, lime and floral are found.  On the palate, abundant acidity, light tangerine and green apple are present.

This wine retails at the LCBO for $16.95
