As the weather starts to change for the warmer, more and more of us are turning to the odd rose or white wine as our choice of patio wine, hence my choice for tonight’s mushroom salad, Trail Estate White 2013.

Trail Estate is a small batch winery located in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada.

The Trail Estate White 2013 is a blend of Riesling (90%) and Gewürztraminer (10%).  On colour, this wine holds an extreme pale golden hue.  On the nose, oak, pear, lemon and apple are noted.  On the palate, apricot, lemon and gingerly styled acidity is present, with a touch of pineapple for good measure.

Though Trail Estate Winery wines are not yet carried in the LCBO, they are available to order directly through the winery.  Their  Trail Estate White 2013 is a fantastic white blend and would be a great addition to any  summertime gathering.  It’s smooth, but yet bright mouth feel makes it a wine that can please the masses.

We gave this wine a score of 4 out of 5.
