The Quinta da Rede winery has been in existence for over 17 years and has won their fair share of awards for previous vintages of their Reserva Tinto, a blend of Tinta Roriz (40%), Touriga Nacional (30%), and Touriga Franca (30%). The winery is located in Portugal’s most prestigious wine region Douro, an area known for its Port wines. However, wineries such as Quinta da Rede remind us all of how much more Douro has to give.
On colour, the Quinta da Rede Reserva Tinto 2012 holds a deep eggplant hue. On the nose, cherry and heavy pepper are sensed. On the palate, you’ll be surprised by the roundness of the wine if you take site and nose as your indicator. The tannins are soft and well balanced with the red berries that bounce on the tip of your tongue. This wine provides a medium mouthfeel that is enjoyable from beginning to end.
Your bottle of Quinta da Rede Reserva Tinto 2012 could be drunk now and enjoyed, but will probably provide a greater impact if laid down for a year.
