Calamus Estate Winery is located in the Niagara Region of Ontario, Canada and it takes its name from the wineries location history. When breaking ground to build the winery itself, remnants from the First Nations were found, namely arrowheads. So, fittingly, it was decided that Calamus, Latin for ‘arrow’, would be the perfect name for the winery.

Calamus Barrel Kissed Chardonnay 2013 is the culmination of vines planted in 2002 and grapes harvested in October of 2013, which were then aged in French Oak for 18 months.

On colour, the Calamus Barrel Kissed Chardonnay 2013 holds a solid golden hue.  On the nose, mineral, pear, burnt caramel, and oak are noted. On the palate, you’ll notice this wines well-balanced acidity, a blend of vanilla and lemon, matched with a smokey air at the back of the throat.

This is a fantastic and well structured Chardonnay from Calamus and one that will sit on our list of ‘must buy’ wines when the weather deems us patio ready.
