It may be cold outside in Toronto, but it is warm in here as we get taken away by a bit of comfort food and Charles Baker Ivan Vineyards Riesling 2015.
Charles Baker Ivan Vineyards Riesling was born out of a partnership between Charles Baker and Bob Nedelko who is the owner of Ivan Vineyard, which was named after Bob’s father. Baker brought his depth of wine-making experience and knowledge of Ontario Riesling and created this complex, and well-structured wine beauty. He impressively hand picks and sorts the grapes himself, resulting in a small batch, and elegant Riesling.
From Charles Baker:
Now is the time to introduce new vintages of Riesling. This project is based on capturing snapshots of the Niagara Escarpment through the lens of Riesling – one vineyard and one vintage at a time.
On colour, the Charles Baker Ivan Vineyards Riesling 2015 holds a bright golden hue. On the nose, pear, apple, hard candy and lemon are noted. On the palate, you’ll experience lemon, peach, pink grapefruit, some smokiness with a medium off dry finish. When paired appropriately and served at the right temperatures you’ll find melon hints will abound.
We paired our Charles Baker Riesling with eggplant that was stuffed with chorizo.
