In looking over my wine posts the other day, I realized that it had been almost a year and a half since I’ve sat down to a Malbec. Could you imagine? Nonetheless, it was my absence of Malbec and my love of red blends that led me to pick up a bottle of Trivento Amado Sur Malbec Blend 2014. This red is a blend of Malbec (79%), Bonarda (11%) and Syrah (10%).

Trivento has grown to be a massive force to be reckoned with in the world of wine and more specifically when it comes to wine production out of Argentina. It is now the top selling Argentinian wine in the UK. Trivento holds eight distinct vineyards across the Mendoza for a total of 1,489 hectares. They bestow the uniqueness of the wines they produce to strategically placed vineyards and their different terroirs, and because it paints a pretty picture in my head, the natural irrigation from the snow melt of the Andes.

On colour, the Trivento Amado Sur Malbec Blend 2014 holds a dazzling, violet hue. On the nose, herb, metal, blueberry, and chocolate are present.  On the palate, a warm rush of herb, red berries in the middle of your tongue, robust tannins, and vanilla come together to provide a long finish.

This Trivento experience will ensure I no longer wait a year and a half to sit down to a Malbec again.

This wine retails at the LCBO for $16.95
